In Havana, the buildings are built right up to the street, so people don’t generally have a front yard, or much of a stoop from which to watch the goings-on. Instead, they have interior courtyards or entrance ways, often common spaces for several occupants. It’s common to see people sitting just inside their front door looking out onto the street. It’s also common for the doorway to reveal a whole other world inside.
I took a few shots of these very interesting doors, and could have done a full photo project on them.
